Amid rising Covid infections, an NHS boss has sounded alarm bells to Prime Minister Boris Johnson whom he believes must act swiftly on a “Plan B” or risk disaster.
With the recent spike in Covid taking on an upward spiral, Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, has called on Boris Johnson’s Government to re-initiate some restrictive measures to curb the further spread of the virus.

“Plan B,” which is the backup strategy Government detailed earlier this year, involves compulsory use of nose masks and working from home for jobs that can be executed remotely.
According to the NHS leader, if these restrictions are not re-initiated, Johnson “[risks] stumbling into a winter crisis. “
Taylor also said that the NHS is gearing up for what could be “the most challenging winter on record” and urged the public to “show extra support for the NHS” by “behaving in ways that will keep themselves and others safe”.
The NHS Confederation’s stern caution comes amid a significant spike in covid related deaths in the UK, the highest since early March.

According to statistics, the seven day average for cases is standing at a grizzly 44,145 cases per day, which represents the highest level for nearly three months.
Boris Johnson’s Government has re-iterated that it was keeping a “very close eye” on the spike in infections, but added the Prime Minister has “absolutely no plan to introduce Plan B”.
