Matt Hancock acknowledged there was “no excuse” for the actions that led to his resignation as health secretary on the ITV show ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’. The West Suffolk MP stepped down in June 2021 after being photographed canoodling with a colleague and breaking his own strict social distancing rules.
Mr Hancock was caught on CCTV with aide Gina Coladangelo in his office.
It was also revealed that he was having an affair with Ms Coladangelo and as a result became estranged from his wife.
Despite his regrets, the former Digital, Culture, Media and Sport minister admitted that he fell “in love” with Ms Coladangelo.
Speaking to campmate and comedian Babatunde Aleshe he explained how his life had changed after the affair became public.
This involved being trapped in an octopus-shaped cage full of underwater critters.
He successfully collected 11 numbered stars as the structure was lowered into the water therefore winning full rations for the camp.
Viewers voted for Mr Hancock along with 80s music legend Boy George to take on the first eating challenge of the series on Friday.
According to the show’s hosts, Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin, the duo would be eating at the La Cucaracha Café (Cockroach cafe).
