A cheating mum’s affair was exposed when the government’s emergency alert sounded on the hidden phone she uses to text her lover. The 34-year-old started cheating on her husband after feeling unappreciated in her home life, but says she is mortified about the way he found out the truth.
Verity, who did not want to reveal her surname, says she now feels remorseful about her infidelity but her husband won’t even look her in the eye.
She told the Daily Mirror that she has lost her identity after taking on the burden of responsibility to take care of her son and her household.
She said: “Ever since we’ve had our son, who is absolutely the light of our lives don’t get me wrong, I’ve just felt like an unappreciated third wheel who is also the glue that holds the family together.
“I guess I felt like I lost my identity in some ways. And as a vibrant person who loves to get out and do stuff, I found that really hard. Now I’m just the mum.”
She turned to the dating site illicitencounters.com and started chatting to men online around five months ago and hit it off with one man.
They have been seeing each other on weekends and she says the time with her lover for making her “feel alive”.
She said: “My husband is everything, the father to our child. My lover was just this wild hobby that made me feel alive at the weekends. It was just an escape from all the stress of daily life.”
But the relationship was rumbled last Sunday when the Government Emergency Alert was signaled at 3pm on her hidden phone.

She says she would usually keep the device locked away in her car but on that day it was in her coat pocket, which was hung up on a peg in their hallway.
She and her husband were painting their son’s bedroom when the alert was triggered.
Her husband got downstairs before her and found the phone and started asking questions.
She said: “I didn’t know what to do in the moment – my heart literally sank to my feet and I could feel my face flush so much it felt like it was literally burning like it would just melt off any second.”
“I stood there frozen with a weird look on my face. I just remember him shouting ‘Come on then, tell me’.
“When he said ‘Is there anyone else?’ I just nodded and felt like I wanted to disappear. Worst moment of my life.”
She says she is sorry she has hurt her husband and she will never forgive herself, but she also says she does not think she deserves all the blame for their marital problems.
Verity is not sure if her lover knows that their secret has been revealed, because her husband has confiscated the phone.
She is planning to log into her dating account online and let him know, but now she is not sure about her feelings for him.
She added: “I need some time to process the last few days.
“I just kind of feel dirty and that the passion has gone. Maybe that’s just the shock. I really don’t know how I feel right now.”
