Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party has held onto Boris Johnson’s former Parliamentary seat.
Voters went to the polls yesterday (Thursday) in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Selby and Ainsty and Somerton and Frome. The Prime Minister has so far won one and lost one with the third seat due to declare.
Steve Tuckwell won Uxbridghe and South Ruislip – Boris Johnson’s former seat – pulling in 13,965 votes compared to 13,470 for the Labor Party, a blow to Sir Keir Starmer.
Somerton and Frome in Somerset, a by-election triggered by David Warburton quitting, saw the Liberal Democrats overturn a 19,000 majority. Sarah Dyke polled 21,187 compared to Conservative Faye Purbrick’s 10,179.
Selby and Ainsty in North Yorkshire, which was vacated by his ally Nigel Adams, saw the Labor Party pick up its only victory of the night.
