Melania Trump struggled to hide what she really thought as she accompanied her husband to the Republican National Convention.
Donald Trump, 78, attended the event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Thursday (July 18) where he accepted the GOP nomination for the third time in a row. He also delivered an emotional speech at the convention, which came just five days after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania.
The event was a star-studded event, with the likes of WWE legend Hulk Hogan and musician Kid Rock in attendance. However, critics were quick to notice that the All Summer Long singer did not seem to be to 54-year-old Melania's taste.
Posting a video of the performer's set to X (formerly Twitter), one wrote: “Melania Trump trying not to laugh at Kid Rock is the funniest thing I've ever seen.”
Others were quick to comment, with one sympathizing with the former First Lady. “He's an acquired taste,” they wrote. Another added: “It is difficult not to laugh at him, I understand her struggle.”
Meanwhile a third chimed in: “I don't blame her,” and another simply added: “So funny.”
Others wondered whether the Republican candidate's linguist wife might use the experience as a learning opportunity. One wrote: “And [she] speaks seven languages ….now she will pick up 'rock rap.'”
Hogan, real name Terry Gene Bollea, also caused a stir at the convention after he ripped his shirt off on stage. He also threw his weight behind Trump and condemned his shooter, branding the presidential hopeful a “hero” in an impassioned speech.
“What happened last week… when they took a shot at my hero… They tried to kill the greatest president of the United States!” he said. “Enough was enough!”
Hogan, 70, then declared he wanted to see “Trump-o-mania make America great again,” much to the delight of the former president.
It comes after five rounds were shot into the crowd at a Trump rally on Saturday (July 13). The former President sustained a wound to the ear, saying it was “pierced”, while two others were critically injured.
Firefighter Corey Comperatore lost his life and the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was also killed. In a social media post following the incident, Trump said: “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.”
“Much bleeding took place.”
