Pensioners are being urged to submit a Winter Fuel Payment claim by December 21 to avoid missing out on a potential £300.
The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed the claim can be backdated to September 22, 2024.
This means those eligible could receive three months' worth of support to offset their bills over the colder months.
The payment amount depends on the year the recipient was born.
Eligible people born between September 23, 1944, and September 22, 1958, will receive £200, and those born before September 23, 1944, will receive £300.
DWP criteria stipulates single people of qualifying age could receive the payment if they are on a weekly income lower than £218.15, and couples could successfully claim if they are on less than £332.95.
People must also live in England or Wales and receive either Pension Credit, Income Support, Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit or Universal Credit.
