This Cornish town has been named the number one place to get fish and chips as Brits scramble to make last-minute holiday plans in the remaining weeks of summer.
Tucking into the UK's iconic dish in Padstow – the hometown of celebrity chef Rick Stein – has emerged as the number one activity on the UK holiday bucket list of Britons, according to research by Webuyanycar which claims 51 percent of staycationers are eager to tick it off. .
Devon cream teas (48 percent), fossil hunting on the Jurassic coast (40 percent) and indulging in a spa treatment in Bath (29 percent) are also activities sought-after by many, according to the study.
From other parts of the British Isles, hopping along the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland (46 percent), puffin spotting in Anglesey (37 percent) and a walk along Hadrian's Wall (37 percent) turned out to be popular choices.
The study also found that a staggering 91 percent of Brits reckons the UK boasts some of the world's best tourist spots.
Almost half (45 percent) even confessed that the beauty of Britain regularly leaves them breathless, while 69 percent admitted they often overlook just how stunning the UK truly is.
The cost of living crisis appears to have sparked a renewed appreciation for the UK's beauty among Brits.
This has resulted in 47 percent of respondents claiming they've holidayed more domestically since their budgets became tighter.
Richard Evans, head of technical services at webuyanycar, said: “It's amazing to see just how enthusiastic Brits are about the many incredible experiences to discover across the UK, no matter where you are or where you're going.
“It's great to see from the research how many people are planning to take advantage of what we have on our doorsteps this summer.”
More than half of those surveyed, 53 percent, believe the true charm of a staycation lies in discovering new places, with more than a third of respondents even daring to go completely off the grid in the pursuit of finding somewhere new.
