Perhaps one of the most demoralizing things about long flights is the inability to get a good night's sleep.
Flyers can spend hours thrashing around in an attempt to find the perfect position for some much-needed shut-eye – while trying not to feel jealous of those who are snoring away in business class.
However one TikToker has now revealed a much cheaper alternative – originally pioneered by Air New Zealand but now rolled out by several airlines, including Vietnam Airlines.
The upgraded package basically consists of three seats with the armrests removed, allowing whoever purchases the package to lie flat across them.
Extra comfy blankets and big pillows are also provided to help make it the most comfortable experience possible.
Travel expert Elliott – who shared videos from his account @callmebelly and boasts 1.5m followers – explained more on his clip which shows him trying out a Sky Couch.
He said: “This is the coziest I have ever been on a flight.
“This is called a Sky Couch and it's something that they're rolling out on some airlines. It's not business class and it costs a fraction of the price of business class.”
Elliott explains that he flew from Los Angeles in the US to Auckland in New Zealand when he was offered the upgrade.
He said: “Three seats are yours and the price does range – I've seen some people pay an extra $400 to get the Sky Couch and then some up to $1,500 – but I mean compared to business class which is like $8,000 sometimes. Not bad.
“Once you're up in the air they can help you set up the bed and there's like a cover and they give you tons of really big pillows and blankets.
“I've flown business class before many times and the way that I was actually able to stretch out my legs in this I was very impressed and like actually lay down and slept for eight hours.”
He added it was “the most comfortable I have ever been on a plane ever.”
Some were quick to point out that if you're lucky enough to be sat next to two empty seats you could create your very own version – while others pointed out the weirdness of having people sit near your feet in the neighboring row.
But many others said they would most definitely be up for giving it a go.
One said: “I would 100 percent pay for this.”
Another said: “I would be soooooo jealous OMG.”
“I did Texas to NZ with Sky Couch. SO WORTH IT,” added another flyer.
