A man in a wheelchair described as a “good guy” has died after being stabbed in broad daylight.
Met Police officers were called to an east London street on Wednesday afternoon, at 3.38pm, following reports of a fight.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance and paramedics, also rushed to the scene in Rushmore Road, Hackney.
There, they found a man in his 30s who had suffered a stab injury.
Despite their best efforts, the emergency services could not save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 15:38hrs on Wednesday, August 28, to reports of a fight in Rushmore Road, E5.
“Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended and found a man, aged in his 30s, suffering a stab injury.
“Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin will be informed.”
The area was cordoned off and a crime scene put in place.
The Met Police added that two people have since been arrested. No further details on the males were provided, and inquiries remain ongoing, the force said.
A butcher at nearby Hook Meat Supplier described the man as a “good guy”, claiming he had seen him around the area for around nine years, the Mirror reported.
