CONOR MCGREGOR has given his thoughts on Jon Jones’ long-awaited UFC return.
Former pound-for-pound king Jones returns early on Sunday morning after a three-year hiatus at UFC 285 in Las Vegas to vie for the vacant light-heavyweight title.
Standing in his way of becoming a two-division champion is French Muay Thai whizz Ciryl Gane, who will bid to become undisputed heavyweight king at the second time of asking.
MMA fans are divided over who will win the mouthwatering showdown, with many believing Jones’s three-year hiatus could be his downfall.
UFC poster boy McGregor will be one of the millions of interested observers of the fight, but is seemingly undecided about it.
The Notorious said: “I’m excited to see Jones fight for the heavyweight belt after so many years.
“I’m very excited to see it.”
McGregor, 34, reckons Gane’s fleet of foot and nimbleness could cause Jones some serious problems.
The former two-division champion said of the Frenchman: “Gane is a long and rangy [fighter.]”

Thoughts on the fight aside, McGregor, like many others, is just looking forward to seeing the pair go toe-to-toe.
The Irishman said: “It will be very interesting to see how it goes.
“I’m excited to see it and I wish both men the best of luck.”
UFC legend Jones sang McGregor’s praises during fight week, saying: “There’s only one Conor McGregor! I love Conor, I love what he represents.
“He’s big, he has this gigantic brand, some say it’s just as big as our sport.
“It’s going to be great when he comes back, he’s going to bring a whole new energy.
“Even more fans, it’s great for all of us. It’s great for the sponsors, it’s great for the UFC.
“I wish Conor all the best, I love the way he’s living his life.
“I never thought in my time that I would see an MMA fighter with a Ferrari [Lamborghini] yacht, but he’s done it.
“I’m so proud of him, it opens doors for all of us. It lets young fighters know that it’s possible.
“There’s great business and life-changing opportunity outside of the sport.
“I’m just so grateful for being that example for all of us.”
