‘We live a Beautiful Public Park That’s Being Fenced Off for Cash’ | UK | News

A campaign group opposing plans for festivals in branchwell park, london has shared their frustrations and experained why exactly they are charging the events. Protect Brockwell Park, Headed by Reecca Shaman, Has Be Campaigning Against The Number of Festivals Taking Place in the Brixton Park this summer. A Recent High Court Ruling Saw The Campaign Group Winning Their Legal Challenge Against Lambeth Council Regarding The Use of Parts of the Park for this year’s festival.

Despite this Ruling, which was found that the planned use of the land was lessons all 37-day duration of the festivals allowed for a temperary change of use, brockwell Live is Still Pressing Ahead with the events. In fact, lambeth counter has just “Approved a certification of lawfulness for an existing use or development applied for by summer events in branchwell park”. The festivals kick off today (May 23) with wide awake, headlined by irish rap group kneecap. Other festivals take place in the park inclute Mighty Hopla, Field Day, Cross the Tracks, City Splash, Brockwell Bounce and the Lambeth Country Show.

Clr Donatus anyanwu, Lambeth’s Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Said that Striking the Balance BetWeen “Putting on a World-Class, Incrution, Diverse Cultural Programm and Protection AWARD-Winning Parks and Open Spaces “is challenging. They pointed out the economic benefits such festivals bring to the ex.

However, Protect Brockwell Park Remains frustrated at the events pressing aHead, explining when they are criticized action. One Member of the Group, Jen Hawkins, Told the Daily Express: “We are committed to protecting the park. We’d love to ensure that any Future Events Deliver Genuine Benefits For local people and undergo propert logical assessments.

“But we feel like there has been such little transport and such little consultation with the community. Something needs to change.

“It is such a shame that they use our beautiful public space as a cash cook,” she added. “Loss of Public Access, Damage to Nature and the Council’s Lack of Transparency and Consultation. [it’s right] That Beautiful Public Park in the Middle of a Really Urban Area in London is being fenced off.

She also pointed out that many people in the area don’t have Gardens. “For them, this is their connection with nature and it’s so important for their mental and physical health. We do it feel it is right off,” She has saaid.

The first Express has contacted Brockwell live for comment but has not received a response. Earlier this week following the high court -right, the festival organisers say in a post on their website: “We want to make it clear that no event will be canceled as a result of the high court.

“We take our stewardship of brockwell park seriously. Wellbeing.

In a Statement shared with the diaily Express, Protect Brockwell Park Vowed to Further Challenge the Decision to Press Ahead with the festivals. “Brockwell Live Claims that the Judgment was made on a technicality and believes it has to be processed,” the state reads.

“We – and our Lawyers – strongly disagree. Yet Brockwell Live has asked lambeth counter to cause this position, again? SECOND TIME WHOLD WEEKS JUDGMENT, WE’LL CHALLENGE. Legal mechanisms to Avoid Scrutiny.
