‘Big John’ Fisher has been detained by Border Force in Australia and will be deported back to the UK on his 52nd birthday
Viral social media star ‘Big John’ Fisher has been abruptly ordered to leave Australia – on what was supposed to be his 52nd birthday celebration Down Under. Father to heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher, ‘Big John’ gained fame for his enormous portions of Chinese food, and signature catchphrase “Bosh!”
John had been scheduled for appearances at Sydney’s Wentworth Park, Perth Racing, and Hillary’s Beach Club in Perth, which coincided with his birthday. However, fans were left disappointed after John posted a video update to X (formerly Twitter) revealing that all his Australian engagements had been scrapped.
“I’m in Australia but bad news, Im flying home tomorrow, on my birthday,” Johnny shared candidly. “I’ve been detained by Border Force for four hours and I’m not in a holding hotel. My visa was legal coming in but they’re not happy with what I’m doing here so they’re sending me home.”
Expressing his regret to fans, John added, “I’m sorry Australia – I’m sorry Perth, sorry Sydney – I won’t be at any of my appearances this weekend, but please support the ones I was going to be at because they’re going to be good days. I’ll let you know more when I get home. To be truthful I just want to get home. All the best, let’s have it. Bosh; or no bosh.”
In another post shared on Instagram, John uploaded a tongue in cheek, doctored image showing himself behind bars – with the phrase ‘free John Fisher’ displayed above, reports the Mirror.
Keen to reach out to his Australian fans, John added: “I’ve got to laugh or I would cry , a legal visa which got me detained for 4 hours. Detained in Australia on my birthday. Totally gutted is an under statement. Love the Aussie people though. I’ll be back. Bosh.”
His son, Johnny, was swift to comment on the situation, sharing on Instagram: “The Aussies have detained Big John and are sending him home- rumour has it they are frightened of his express pace bowling ahead of the Ashes.”
Despite the setback, John’s UK fans can look forward to seeing him soon. He’s set to appear in Birmingham on October 22, followed by two Oktoberfest events in Chelmsford on October 24 and 25,
‘Big John’ has also announced that he will be appearing at the Backyard Comedy Club in East London on December 14, whilst also hinting at visits to Portsmouth on November 7 and 8. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
