Police have issued a CCTV appeal following an alleged assault in a UK city centre. Merseyside Police confirmed that they received a report of an incident in the early hours of Sunday, September 7, when a woman was allegedly attacked outside Baa Bar on Fleet Street at around 1.30 am.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following the call, and the area was secured as part of the response. The woman involved was provided with support, and police began gathering evidence, including witness statements and CCTV footage from the busy nightlife district, to establish the circumstances of the assault. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have appealed to anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward with information that could assist their inquiries.
Following the assault, police carried out extensive CCTV reviews and spoke to witnesses in the area as part of their investigation. Officers arrested a 23-year-old woman from Kirkby on suspicion of assault; She has since been released on bail with conditions.
Detectives have now released additional CCTV images of another woman they are keen to identify and speak with, believing she may hold information that could help progress their inquiries, the police said.
Detective Sergeant Lee Hearne said: “This was a serious and unprovoked attack on a young woman who was out with her friends in our city centre.
“Everyone should be able to go out and feel safe in their own community without the fear of being attacked and we are working to find those responsible.
“I am appealing to find the woman shown in this CCTV footage, or anyone who recognizes her to come forward as we believe they could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.
“Similarly, if you were at Baa Barr at around 1.30am in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw the assault or those involved in this incident please contact the police as soon as possible.
“While several weeks have passed since the incident, any information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”
