A teacher has reported a six-year-old pupil to the police, claiming that they touched her inappropriately and stalked her, it has been reported. The report was submitted to the head teacher of a primary school in Loutraki, Greece, and contained an accusation from the woman that the child had drawn a picture and “touched her” while showing it to her. A complaint was later made to a local police station, despite the school's reassurances that it could handle the matter internally without involving the authorities.
The police then contacted the Primary Education Department of Corinthia, a major educational body in the Mediterranean country, which conducted an Interdisciplinary Educational Evaluation (EDE). The teacher is reportedly set to be temporarily removed from the school and relocated to a nearby primary school in the same municipality.
“She was teaching a lesson in the classroom and a child, after making his drawing, went to the teacher to show it to her and touched her to tell her,” Director of Primary Education in Corinth, Dimitris Drimeris, said, according to the MailOnline.
It is thought that the alleged incident happened during a first grade class.
Attendance in Greek primary schools lasts for six years, and includes grades one to six.
Six-year-old pupils enroll in the first grade.
The Ministry of Education supervises the organization and operation of pre-school and primary schools in the state.
