Aldi has enforced a new rule for customers shopping in its 1,050 stores across the UK. The next few days will be busy in UK supermarkets as households finish stocking up on their festive foods and treats for the big day. After that, we have New Year celebrations for which people will be buying more food and alcohol. Aldi has introduced a new rule for one of its products that has proved to be a big hit with its customers.
The supermarket is selling the Nicolas de Montbart Champagne Brut and has reduced it from £13.99 for a 75cl bottle to just £9.99 ahead of Christmas. The bottle of booze has seen sales skyrocket, proving to be in huge demand ahead of Christmas. In fact, the supermarket has recorded a staggering 76% increase in sales for the bottle of wine. This has led to the introduction of a strict new rule by Aldi.
Aldi has told customers that they will only be allowed to purchase four bottles of Nicolas de Montbart Champagne Brut in a bid to make things fairer. “This popular tipple combines Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, resulting in a subtle elegance on the palate,” says Aldi.
“Bursting with bright fruit and delicate floral notes, it's an easy-drinking, aperitif-style sparkling, perfect for raising a toast at Christmas gatherings.”
The wine has been receiving plenty of praise from customers online. One blog, The Greater Senses Wine Blog, called this bottle of wine a “yummy” wine.
Meanwhile, one TikTok user said: “For the money, I'd take this over any prosecco at the same price.” Aldi isn't the only supermarket to have recently introduced a limit on products around the festive season.
Tesco shoppers have spotted a sign on the red meat aisle reading: “So that everyone can get what they need, we're limiting Beef and Lamb joints to four per person.”
Additionally, online customers are only allowed to add three of these items to their basket.
