A London property on sale for more than half a million pounds has left social media users baffled and amused.
The £525,000 “detached home”, which appears on a popular property-selling website, sparked dismay online and a wider discussion on the cost of properties in the British capital.
A video posted by Charlotte Louisa Moran has been shared thousands of times. In the clip, Moran humorously walks viewers through her disbelief at the price.
“Alright this is quite entertaining,” she says. “Over half a million pounds. That can get you a detached house, right?”
In the clip, she points out what appears to be a grand house. Then, in a dramatic twist, she zooms in to reveal the reality.
The property in question, the video shows, is a tiny annex at the side of the larger house. “Hackney baby,” the TikToker laughs. “I thought 'wow'. No. It's the shed on the side for half a million pounds.”
The video quickly gained traction, with many users shocked by the listing.
“Stop it,” one user said. “It's a portacabin.” Somebody else added: “Technically it's not detached either.”
Jayne Hiddleston gave their thoughts: “You could literally buy a mansion up here in Scotland for that. It's wild.”
Brini Boston also chimed in to claim: “I used to live in the top floor of that big house, it's split into four flats. Actually reeling to see the strange shed couple looking for that much.”
It's not the first time somebody's housing-related story has gone viral this week. The Fajolu family were catapulted on TikTok stardom after sharing their remarkable home transformation journey – turning a humble council property into a stunning pad.
