Loose Women panellist Nadia Sawalha has opened up on the emotional moments she experienced after becoming a mum, admitting that she was left in tears
Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha shared an emotional reflection on her first moments of motherhood, revealing the tears shed after a “difficult birth”.
Discussing the early days with her daughter Maddy on the Loose Women podcast, she confided in Kaye Adams saying: “It was so so difficult, especially when I realised I couldn’t just go to the pub whenever I wanted to. I remember sobbing breastfeeding Maddy.” During their candid exchange, when Kaye questioned whether she was joking, Nadia clarified with sincerity: “No no, I was sobbing because I didn’t really realise, I was like how has this happened?
“I had a very difficult birth with my first one and I was breastfeeding her and a message came in for Mark to go to the pub with his friends.”
Nadia continued to share her personal stories on the Loose Women podcast, recounting the moment she encouraged her partner Mark: “He went ‘they’re going to the pub’ and I said ‘oh, you go’ and they went and I was just sat there going (sobbing noise)”.
In another heartfelt conversation on the podcast, Nadia spoke with Myleene Klass about prior miscarriages before welcoming her second child, Kiki, saying: “I’ve had lots of traumatic things happen in my life, like so many people have, but I feel very much healed in all of them.”
However, she revealed that the birth of her youngest child, Kiki, brought about an “instant healing” from her past miscarriages, stating: “When my youngest was born, I felt instantly healed of my miscarriages, it’s not the same for all people.”
Nadia, who married Mark Adderley nearly 23 years ago, welcomed their first daughter Maddy in 2002 and then Kiki five years later.
Over the years, Nadia has built a highly successful career in broadcasting.
Her first significant role was in 1997 when she portrayed Annie Palmer on EastEnders. Nadia’s stint on the BBC soap ended two years later when her character moved to New Zealand.
While she gained fame on EastEnders, she is perhaps most recognised as one of the original panellists on Loose Women, alongside Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Karren Brady in the show’s first episode on ITV.
In addition to this, her broadcasting career includes appearances on numerous other shows, such as The One Show and Lorraine.
She has also ventured into reality TV, winning Celebrity MasterChef in 2007 and participating in Dancing on Ice in 2011.
