Jesy Nelson faced a difficult pregnancy but now has two beautiful babies, dubbing herself ‘Muma Nelson’
An overjoyed Jesy Nelson is now a mum after welcoming her twins into the world following induced labour at a London hospital. The former Little Mix star and her partner Zion Foster have been living in the hospital for the past 10 weeks to ensure the safety of their newborns, and say they’re ecstatic to announce that they have arrived.
Sources close to The Mirror say medical professionals had previously scheduled to induce labour after reaching the optimised 32 weeks for the twins’ size and strength. On Instagram, the thrilled musician can be seen gleefully holding one of her twin girls, sporting an orange hat, with another snapshot showing Zion, completely captivated, donning a hospital gown while holding the other infant tightly.
Jesy said in the caption: “So… Our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus five days. It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love. Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster. Born on 15.05.2025.”
Congratulatory messages poured in from friends of the couple, with Safiyya Vorajee saying: “Oh how my heart just filled up with love for you all, congratulations welcome to the world babies you are so special, beautiful names, now it’s time to soak up all the love and start your new chapter with love health and happiness so happy for you all.”
Luke Hamnett also offered well-wishes, saying simply: “Congratulations my lovely.” One admirer commented: “They’re absolutely precious, so are their names. Congratulations and welcome to the World, sweet girls.”
Jesy has been open about her challenging and emotional pregnancy journey with her followers. The 33-year old underwent urgent surgery in April when her twins suffered from twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome – a potentially deadly condition for one or both of the babies.
Following the procedure, Jesy expressed her relief, saying: “We feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong,”. Fortunately, the twins have shown encouraging progress throughout the rest of the pregnancy.
In May, Jesy shared monochrome images of her prominent bump alongside fresh ultrasound pictures of the twins, captioning them: “Muma Nelson and Papa Foster” and including a heart emoji. In another photo series, she affectionately referred to Zion as “my husband”.
Hailing from Romford, East London, Jesy gained fame on ITV’s The X Factor in 2011 and was part of Little Mix until 2020. She has been in a relationship with South London’s Zion since November 2022, and in May, he participated in the London Marathon to fundraise for the Twins Trust, which supports families with twins.
During the sole interview given in her pregnancy, Zion spoke optimistically about the twins: “They’re giving us so much hope they’re going to come out healthy.”Jesy and the twins have come through so much. There were so many times in this pregnancy we didn’t think we’d get to where we are now.
“Their strength has been unmatched. We literally feel like we know them already just because of how much they’ve overcome. Their characters are so strong. They’re so brave.
Zion also shared that their recent experience living in a hospital to monitor the twins’ progress has brought them closer as a couple. “The same four walls are driving us a bit crazy,” he confessed.
“We’ve literally grown to understand each other on a deeper level. And I think we really understand how much we actually care about each other.
“I think it’s at these times when you really, really know what love you have and what your relationship means. And I think for me and Jess, this has just taken it to a whole other level of us knowing we are literally made for each other.”
Jesy joins other Little Mix members who are already mothers. In 2021, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock both became mothers within a week of each other.
Perrie welcomed a son named Axel with her fiancé Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Leigh-Anne welcomed twins with her husband Andre Gray. Since opening up about the twins’ struggles during the pregnancy, Jesy and Zion have received thousands of messages of support from the public. Zion mentioned that Jesy regularly read them and they were a source of comfort during the pregnancy.
Speaking last month, he told the Mirror: “It’s really been incredible, the level of support. It’s been absolutely incredible. And I think just massive, massive, massive credit to Jesy, because obviously when these kinds of things happen, it’s very difficult to actually share that.
“But Jess had the courage to say: ‘You know what? I want to put this story out there. I want to let people in. I want people to know it’s not just about sharing the good moments. I want people to know the reality. And just to see the response, people’s support, the amount of messages that just flooded in daily.
“Even after the operation, Jess was recovering and we didn’t say anything for a while, people were asking: ‘Oh, is everything OK?’
“I think it’s just been just so touching, and I don’t know if the word is ‘motivational’, but it just really keeps us going. It helps our frame of mind and helps us just keep going day by day, just feeling supported and feeling love.”
