Madonna expresses her gratitude to her children for their unwavering support following her recent hospitalisation due to a “serious bacterial infection.” The Queen of Pop, aged 64, took to Instagram to share her appreciation in a heartfelt post, exactly one month after the health scare.
Accompanying the message, Madonna posted a picture embracing her son, David Banda, aged 17, and another snapshot featuring her daughter, Lourdes Leon, aged 26, flashing a peace sign.
“Love from family and friends is the best medicine. One month out of the hospital and I can reflect,” Madonna began her caption.
“As a mother, you can easily immerse yourself in your children’s needs and the seemingly endless giving,” she wrote. “But when times were tough, my children truly stepped up for me. I witnessed a side of them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.”
“The love and support from my friends also meant the world to me,” added the “Vogue” singer, while pointing out a second photo in her carousel where she held a framed Polaroid picture gifted to her.
“If you zoom into this picture I am holding, you will see a Polaroid taken by Andy Warhol of Keith Haring wearing a jacket with Michael Jackson’s face painted on it,” she explained.
Madonna referred to the photo as “a perfect triangle of brilliance” and praised Warhol, an artist who had a profound impact on her life and the lives of many others.
“I was moved to tears when I received this gift, realizing how fortunate I am to be alive and to have known these people and countless others who are no longer with us.”
“Thank you @guyoseary for this gift! And thank you to all my angels who protected me and allowed me to carry on with my work!” concluded Madonna, adding a heart emoji.
Madonna’s longtime manager, Guy Oseary, initially confirmed her hospitalization in a post on June 28th.
“On Saturday, June 24th, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection that led to several days in the ICU. Although her health is improving, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” Oseary wrote on his Instagram.
PEOPLE magazine later confirmed that Madonna had returned home and was in the process of recuperating. A close source to the Grammy winner shared, “She’s feeling better and following doctor’s orders, resting.”
Another insider revealed that Madonna’s children — Lourdes, David, Rocco (aged 22), Mercy (aged 17), and twins Stella and Estere (aged 10) — have been incredibly supportive throughout the challenging ordeal.
“She’s getting better. She still needs to rest,” the insider added. “Her focus isn’t on resuming the tour right now, but she definitely plans to tour when the time is right. And it’s going to be an amazing concert. She loves touring.”
