SOME Samsung Galaxy phone owners have been expressing frustration online after a familiar feature vanished.
In a recent Reddit post, one Galaxy owner revealed that some Samsung models are missing an SD card slot.
Specifically, the missing functionality is absent from the Samsung S Ultra and Z fold models.
This expandable storage option allowed users to easily boost their phone’s capacity with affordable SD cards.
“It’s the Ultimate Ultra phone in the Z and S lineup. So why doesn’t it have an SD card?” the Reddit user asked.
“It doesn’t make sense that they took away the SD card reader on both devices,” they added.
“I get it, they want to make more money from us upgrading our storage or buying more storage,” they continued.
“But seriously c’mon this doesn’t make sense from a marketing perspective.”
Since going live, the thread has received hundreds of upvotes and dozens of comments.
“Back when they had SD slots I was so confused why anyone would spend more money on larger storage,” one Reddit user remarked.

“Those good times are over forever,” they continued.
“I think they trying to make you get the cloud,” a second person commented.
“I just got the S24 Ultra 512. It is NICE, but heck the SD card should be standard,” they added.
“It doesn’t matter what we want. Companies make decisions based on what makes them the most money,” a third person shared.
“It’s been years since they removed the headphone jack, SD card slot, IR blaster, Iris scanner, heart rate/blood oxygen monitor on their phones and it hasn’t hurt them, so why would they bother bringing any of that back?” they continued.
In a statement from 2021, Samsung noted that over time, SD card usage markedly decreased on smartphones.

Today, Samsung’s most important sources of income are its smartphones and computer chips.
