A UK town is currently on lockdown while armed police are involved in a tense stand-off with a 'man with a gun'.
Residents in Stanningley have been told to stay inside as officers respond to the incident. Armored vehicles and streets are sealed off in the Half Mile Green area of the West Yorkshire town.
Police say they were first called to what they believed to be a domestic incident about five miles from Leeds city center. However, at the scene they discovered a man inside a home with what is believed to be a handgun.
A spokesperson told Leeds Live: “A police operation is currently ongoing at an address in Half Mile Green, Stanningley. At 12.36pm today, officers were called to a domestic-related incident at the property but withdrew on seeing a male at the address in possession of what appeared to be a handgun.
“A cordon is currently in place and various emergency service resources, including police negotiators, are at the scene working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion. The male is the only person at the address and there is no risk to the wider community. “
