Firefighters rushed to a recycling center in Southall on Sunday after a huge fire erupted in the area. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters are responding to the blaze on Johnson Street, where around 15 tonnes of mixed recycling is currently alight, London Fire Brigade said.
The firefighters were alerted to the incident shortly after 5.30pm today. Control officers have mobilized crews from Southall, Hayes, Feltham and surrounding fire stations to the scene, the LFB added. The blaze has prompted travel disruption, as due to the smoke caused by the fire, the nearby Great Western Main Line has been closed as a precaution. National Railways warned disruptions between London Paddington and Reading linked to this incident could last until 8pm.
