A GB News star has slammed Sir Keir Starmer for making a very “selfish” decision as the UK Prime Minister is facing mounting pressure to resign. Nana Akua slammed the leading politician, saying he is not “good enough,” and named who would be the only acceptable person to replace him.
Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, the presenter said: “Starmer is not good enough. But the fear is that there is no one on his front bench who could do a better job. They are all woefully inadequate as well.” When asked if there was no one at all who she thinks could replace Starmer, if he does resign, Akua claimed: “Well, the one person who was effective was Andy Burnham, and Keir Starmer sorted that using the National Executive Committee, so that he didn't get in. But again, here we have it, more selfish, ego, 'me me me' politics, instead of Starmer thinking, 'If I go out of this, or am thrown out of this, I need someone who is good and who can guide the Labor Party'.
“If you are sensible as a politician, then you need to have a sense of selflessness as well because it is not about you, it is about the country. But Keir Starmer could not give two hoots about the country.”
Akua added: “We trust the government to make the right decisions. We pick them, and we are paying for these people to make the right decisions, but when it goes wrong, they are ready to blame someone else. But when it goes right, they're all like, 'Oh it's me, it's me.' They are so quick to wash their hands.”
Akua then touched on Starmer “not representing” what Labor is really about. She said: “I came from a working-class, hard-working background. Most working-class people are the salt of the earth. Most working-class people I know are really, really honest.
“Those are the communities where you can leave your doors open and chill out, and everybody is helping everybody, but this batch of so-called Labor politicians do not represent what Labor is about. That's why even some of the unions are turning against some of the policy decisions that have been made by these politicians. I just don't know who they actually represent.”
Meanwhile, former Greater Manchester mayor Burnham's bid to become a Labor MP was thwarted by Starmer earlier this year amid a possible leadership challenge, ensuring he could never be the one to replace the current PM.
Labour's National Executive Committee (NEC) blocked Burnham from becoming the party's candidate in the Gorton and Denton by-election, held in February, because it would create a vacancy for the mayor role.
